The stock horsepower is 15...which is only 3 less than a 300EX. The 86-87 200X engines were popular for hop up parts in the late 80s, but I don't know who exactly still does them now. Check with Powroll or Fourstroke Tech.
I have an '85 200X engine in a 300EX frame that has everything available in it. It has a +6mm stroker crank from Powroll...a 67mm piston with 12.5:1 ration...XR200 cam...Keihin 26mm carb and intake along with a few other things. It's at 244cc now and that package has consistently been dynoed at 27HP. Alot of people laugh for investing so much in a small engine, but this quad will absolutely destroy a stock 400EX and will stay with a stock Z400 in a drag race.
Good luck on your 86

The most we ever got out of my "85" 245cc was 25hp. The "86" 212cc class legal racer was 21hp.

Mr. Horsepower has a "drag ATC 200x" that he races. He has beaten YZF450's in 300' drags.
He had it at ALEDO this past summer, and I think it turned more heads than anything out thierLOL,and i he never even started it!
I think people with PAMI 760's,and Craycraft 730's were paying him NOT to run it in the races!!

Well, this is the 2nd one that I have had built in past couple of years that went all out on, but I have had several with the same combination.
The 1st one had about 20 hours on it. All ripping and no trail plonking.I had no problems out of it.
This last one I did hasn't got more than 10 hours on it.
Everyone that I know who has done these mods have been happy with the results, but most alays tell me that reliability is significantly decreased if the oil filter is not checked often. I guess I have been lucky so far.
BBR, the dirtbike company, up till last year when the new CRF230F engine was released, used the XR200R engine in CR125 aluminum frame bikes for alot of guys here in the south that raced hare scramble races with them. I haven't heard anything negative about them and they use the same engine package as I do.
