I have an 03 Sportman 500Ho and have been thinking for awhile that I want to go faster, etc. My dealer said he would trade me straight up an 03 Predator he has (0 miles) for my Sportsman.

What do you guys think? I know the Predator has had some problems, but I really want to go with a sport quad. I'd appreciate any info.

Go for it. I know the Predator has problems in water (easy fix, ask people on here about it). Otherwise its a great quad.

Do it, aAs long as youre not putting out any cash and the Predator is a new left over, never titled with a warranty. If that is the case, then do it.

 

Or you could throw down a little cash and go for the updated 04 Predator, that would give you less problems later on I am pretty sure!!

 

ya.. id throw some cash for the 04.. he might not let you do that tho..

 

i think i'll call and find out how much additional he'd want for the 04. also, the 03 is new and never been titled. thanks for the help guys

 

I’ve read a lot of complaints about the 03 pred but am yet to see it first hand - I ride regularly with two other happy pred owners one is an O4 the other an 03 - and neither has ever complained about issues on the machines. So is this 03 thing more of a case of being hyper critical of a first year model? For my 2 cents the swing arm on the 03 looks like a first year shop project but is holding up well under extreme abuse, as is the rest of the quad. I only hope my 04 holds up as well.

As for me I ride a 04 and am very happy with my choice[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Seeing I own 2 Troy Lee Preddys, both 03's, call me biased, but I haven't had a lick of problems with either of them, and personally I like the longer swing-arm for keeping the nose planted during high speed logging road rip snorts and hill climbing dunes........I already loft the front end at comp hill when staying neck and neck or beating raptors, I sure wouldn't want a shorter swing-arm.

Go for the Pred in your trade, you can always get another 500 H.O or other quad........time for a new quad riding chapter for you!
