Default leaking oil after oil change!

2002 honda foreman es. I changed my oil and after everything was done and i went to start it. Oil started to leak from the top of the oil filter cover. It leaked alot more when i revved it. So when i went to tighten everything up, the bolt sheared. So after a little elbow grease i got the bolt out and installed a new one. Well i started it up and it wasn't leaking near as much so then i tried to tighten it even more and that bolt broke. So what do i need to do now after i remove the bolt. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Im not familiar with a foreman but does it need a gasket for the cover that you forgot about maybe?

the gasket came with the new filter, and i put it on, but when i tightened it, the gasket was push out in a few spots. You could see it sticking out in a few areas. I can't get it to stay.

Make sure you don't have two gaskets in there. Sometimes the old one will stick in the groove and you won't notice it. Are you using a different brand of filter? NAPA claimed their filter would fit a Raptor, but let me tell you that it doesn't.

Stop! You're scaring me! My best guess would be that the filter isn't set right or the darn gasket. Did everything come apart easy? Please stop breaking off the bolts before you strip some threads. Was the spring put back in correctly?

I would probably take it back apart. It's awkward holding the cover, pushing in on the spring and making sure the gasket stays in place. Then you need a third hand to tighten the bolts.

Was the small o-ring in position?

If the o-ring looks good and there is no debris keeping it from sitting in the right place, you should probably go buy an emgo or whatever the cheaper filter name is that most dealers sell and put it in. Unless you have the filter in backwards maybe. It should fit fine.

Make sure the filter is not in backwards. Also make sure the black O-Ring gasket ON THE COVER is in good shape.
