Looking for anyone that has drag raced a 440ex w/fcr and cam against a 450r at least 300yards. Lets here the results?????

 

my cousin has both..
he let me race the 440ex, and he rode the 450r..
the race was about even until about midway through 3rd gear he started to pull away...we didn't race 300 yards though..

 

There was a post in the Honda forum where a guy's wife on a 440 put a pretty good beat down on a 450R.

 

that was duneittiludie and his wifes 440 runs good no fcr carb either.

 

About 3 weeks ago i raced a 450r with my 400ex. He pulled very slowly until we got around 65 mph then he left me.

 

Good info. I read the one about his wife pulling a 450r, but I'm sure there was a weight difference. It seems to me like 450r/440ex are about the same acceleration wise. I raced a stock 450r on my fully modded ex last weekend and he pulled me by a three or four quad lengths on a 300rd sand strip. The guy weighed 145lbs against me at 180lbs. From experience I would think that it would be about even if he had a 35lb backpack on his back. These are the results that I was expecting, but it is still impressive to see first hand how much acceleration the 450r has all stock.

 

i ride with those guys sometimes and he wife isn't a small women, i'd say 150 + range, but they have her machine tuned very well, no carb a xr 400 cam and lots of practice on the hill, oh and the right gearing, i aslo have the 440 and have rode the 450not as much power difference i i thought there would be but time will change that, powroll already has a stroke kit and there working on a new cylinder to bring it up to 550 cc that should handle the 440

 

i am a faithful honda guy, and i would like to put my opinion in this. the 450r is a good bike but all of the magazines and articles everywhere else has over rated this machine. i am not impressed about the machine. i do like it though, dont get me wrong. i have raced against the 450r with my 416 and i kept up with it the whole race and finally passed it.

 

i would definately race a 440EX on my 450r, but the thing that made me get a 450r instead of modifying my 400ex is that once u get a 440ex, other than running alky and going to a 465, there's not much u can do, and the 440kit seems to be about the same as a stock 450r. the 450r has room to grow, where the 440ex doesn't. personally i'd like to ride a 440ex jus for the heck of it, but i don't know ne body that has one. if ne body is going to gorman sat. and has a 440ex, let me know and i'll race u.

 

that's right the 450r is going to explode with hop ups.
