I always see metal filings on the oil drain plug when changing oil. The DS seems to run hot in my opinion - the fan runs almost continuously. The radiator fluid was down a little and when I removed the cap I saw metal filings on the cap! How would metal filings get in the radiator fluid?

PAULBERGH, How can I check to see if the water pump is pumping and that the radiator is flowing properly?

scoobydfw

run the motor without the radiator cap
you should see the water flowing in the radiator.

replace the cap and take the quad for a spin
the top of the radiator should be hotter than
the bottom . that indicate the water is flowing
and the radiator is cooling.

I removed the thermostat and so far the fan seemed to come on a little less often, although I did not drag race it like I was the other day.

Be carefull removing the thermostat completely because the fluid flows faster through the radiator and you lose cooling efficiency. If anything replace thermostat with a restrictor plate.
