Goodyear Radial M/T????
#1
I recently purchased a 650 le with the Goodyears, anyone know what the ply rating is? I am worried about punctures.
They seem to get traction better than the goodyear rawhides on my polaris 700 but they are 50% worn on the rear.
Thinking about mudlites or 589's.........Any input would be appreciated.

WOW!!! you already have the rears at 50% ??? ... The MTR's are 2 ply side wall & 4 ply tread... If you already have the MTR's at 50%, stay away from the Mud Lites, if you want to run matching rubber front & rear ( though I almost never run the same tread pattern front to rear ) ... The Mud Lites are a tire I reccommend for front tires, & all the way around, on mid sized quads... you will find that in putting Mud Lites on the rears, they will wear nearly twice as fast as the MTR's ( skelletonized tread blocks & a soft rubber compound )... My reccommendation would be a set of Mud Lites on the fronts, & Goodyear Mudrunners, GBC Mud Hogs, or Interco Vampires on the rears... If you wanted matching rubber on the fronts & rears, then I'd go with the Mudrunners or Mud Hogs all they way around... any of these set ups would work equally well on trails or mud holes... If you were doing mostly mud riding, I'd reccommend differently, but since your MTR's are that worn, I'm assuming that you are doing alot of hard pack, & or road riding... I highly reccommend the Mudrunners, if wear & traction are your prime concerns...

The tires on my 700 are at 50% from a burnout (blacktop) at a pig-roast I have every year. I only have 100 miles on the MTR's. I use them for forestry work and make 75% of my own trails and I am afraid of busting a sidewall. Thanks for the info.

I got use to the Prairie 650 & the Goodyear Mudrunners I had on it. Great all-purpose tire, excellent traction & the tire has a long life.
When I got my Cat 650 & these Radials I was to say the least a bit dissapointed. These M/Ts scared me while out riding fast on the trails, too much flexing on the sidewalls.
I went ahead & switched over to a set of Mudrunners on the Cat, made all of the difference in the world, no comparision between the 2 tires. I stayed with the 26" tire size, these have a 6-ply rating.
