New CDI vs. other mods
#1
Looking at the possability of a new cdi I got to thinking:
With a new cdi the holeshot modules would not be needed.
Unlimiter would not be needed.
Cams with the timing advanced 10 deg would need to be changed back to stock timing.
Advanced timing timing keys would need to be removed.
Jetting would probably need to be changed again.
No change in exhaust except I may go with full system.
If I have made a mistake in my assumptions please post. I am just wondering. I was looking at changing cams, was going to order Tomorrow now I think I'll wait and see what we come up with.

Dan,
I believe everything you said above is correct EXCEPT that there's no need to reset the cams back to the original position if you've already advanced them 10 degrees. Also, I don't think you will need to rejet...but that one is just a guess.
Anyone out there agree/disagree with my thoughts here?

The reason I would think that you would need to go back to stock timing would is that if the cdi will correct the timing that was factory de-tuned why would you advance the timing another 10 deg. If the cdi is programable or adjustable then this would not be a problem. Advancing the timing too much will create heat by holding the detonation time too much. My thinging may be off due to this is not a V-8. I would like to degree a cam or two just to see.
