Default Racing Fuel on a new JE piston

I am currently getting a new 11:1 JE piston installed on my Raptor with a Stage 2 Hot Cam and 686 kit. It is also getting ported and polished while it is in the shop. I was going to go with the 12.5:1 piston but the mechanic told me that i would always have to run race fuel. I dont have a problem running race fuel, especially in the dunes, but when i ride in the mountains where there is no need for speed, it would be a waste of money to run race fuel. He told me that i wouldnt have to run race fuel on the 11:1, but i heard about some problems with the JE piston when using the wrong fuel type. Would i get into some problems if i ran race fuel at the dunes and Premium(92 octane) when casual riding in the mountains/woods?

If you get a True 11:1/10.75:1 you should be ok with pump 93 octane. Anything over 11.5:1 requires race gas.

I wouldn't waste my money on octane booster. The most I ahve seen it raise octane is by 7 points. This doesn't mean raising it from 93 to 100 octane, it means raising it from 93 to 93.7. That's not worth the 6bucks a bottle it cost.

Just my opinon but I wouldn't use the 11/1JE on pump gas, although you might get away with it from easy riding.

Thanks Ward, you're right. I would run racing fuel as well just to be safe.

What octane for an 11:1? I use P C12 on our 12:1 bikes?107 octane

Of course it depends on oter things, but a 11/1 JE piston with a stage one cam I would think should be good around 100-103.

A 12/1 your about right at 107 with a stage 2. IMHO anyway.

Let Trinity do some chamber mods, use a 685 Web cam, and you could probably run an 11/1 JE piston on 87 octane. LOL

I run race gas in both of my raptors. I mix it with 91 50/50. It works good I don't think I'd try anything less.
