DG Front Bumper and Cycle Country Winch Mount Kit
#1
I have a 2002 Scrambler 500 with a DG front bumper on it. Does anyone know if the Winch Mount Kit from Cycle Country will adapt to my front bumper or will it only work with the stock bumper?
thanks in advance

I dont think that it will work with the DG bumper. I know that the Polaris mount replaces the entire bumper. But I don't know how the Cycle Country differs. You could always make your own mount to work with the DG bumper

Has anybody here made a winch mount for a DG bumper on a Scrambler? I am pretty sure I am going to get a winch soon and can't decide if I should get the DG bumper too. I don't want to be pulling on the bumper directly because it would be likely to bend. Anybody figured out a way to do this and have both?

If possible, try to get a picture of the kit mounted on the bumper. Some kits (the one for my Trail Boss) had it mounted in front of the bumper. Nothing like a 300 dollar part protecting a 90 dollar bumper. I would use the steel bummper for having a winch, otherwise contact scramblerXrated and check out his new winch he mounted on his scrammy. I use the steel bumper for my winnch

I might just end up using the stock bumper, but that's aluminum too. I thought for sure it was steel and read somewhere some of the stock bumpers were aluminum. I went out and checked it with a magnet and sure enough it's aluminum. Like I said, I've seen it done before and was just wondering how. If that's what I do, I am going to get a set of eye bolts and put them in where the top two mounting bolts for the bumper go. Then if I ever broke down or something, I would pull from there and not the bumper. Might be a good idea for other people out there with an aluminum bumper too. One other question about the DG bumper, can you still keep the black cage that protects the radiator? I noticed it hooks into the stock front bumper and wasn't sure if the DG had holes to leave that on there. I like ScramblerXrated's idea but mine's a 400 and I have the oil injection, so I couldn't mount a winch there.

Thanks conig, I found that person a few days ago in a search and tried PMing them, but no response yet. I've thought about putting it in the rear but I don't know if it would be as good. If you ever got in a situation where you were climbing a steep hill and ran out of traction, you could just pull out the winch. If it was in the back, you would have to back down the hill (which isn't too cool sometimes) and winch backwards. I know you would be able to pull yourself back out of things, but if I was trying to get through it I would mostly likely just pull myself the way I was trying to go.
