Raptor break-in
#1
My dad just got his rappy, and even though he's excited about it, he isnt going to jump on it every morning and ride it like most people would. and, he knows ill ride it more than he will so he knows ill do the break in and he can just hop on when its done and go like hell and not worry about it. so basically the break in process is left completely up to me. i just got my shee and the break in for that went fine, but the thing thats kinda weird is the raptor seems almost ready to go already. with the banshee it very noticeably had a certain rpm that it didnt like to be revved to until i had ridden it more, and gradually that rpm went up and up and now i can give it full throttle with no problem. but the raptor seems different, i dont think its putting out full power yet, it doesnt quite feel as strong as i would think it should be, but it doesnt give me any feedback about how i am breaking it in. i dont know if its different because its a single cyl or because its a 4-stroke, but if you have any suggestions about how it should be broken in, that would help me a lot. thanks!

My suggestion is that you try to stick to the directions in the owner's manual for break in instructions but that's my opinion. Basically, there's a lot of heat generated by the new parts wearing in to each other. The harder you ride it, the more heat you're going to add to it. There's only so much heat that the cooling system can handle and the less stress you put on it, the better it can work.
The other theory that's out there is that you should ride it like you're going to ride it from the start. Like above, my opinion is that the cooling system will be over taxed and you will be getting the engine a little warm. Will it actually do any harm....? Who knows until it happens.
I don't know as you need to put as many hours on it as they say before you really start getting on it but you'll definetly notice the difference when it starts to loosen up and seat in.
Hope this helps.
