What part is this on my raptor and do I need it on there. I noticed that the wires from the rear tail light run up to a metal heat sink looking object under the left rear fender. I removed my lights and was going to remove the excess wiring and saw that the rear light wiring looks to plug into this metal object.

I think it is the rectifier or something like that. It is necessary. You cannot remove it. Just zip-tie the brake light wire somewhere out of the way. Good Luck.
