this weekend i was starting up my trailblazer and i forgot to turn the gas on it bogged down and died i tried to restart it and there was a loud bang " i think it was a backfire" it fouled the spark plug and i changed the plug and it started but ran rough do you guys think i blew my piston????

 

From running it out of gas the float might be stuck causing it to flood... You might want to check that.. I really don't think you hurt anything as far as the piston goes, I did not run very long...

 

my situation was similar to yours,i had ran out of gas and i let it sit for like a week and when i put new gas in it ,it took forever for it to start up and before it did it backfired once and after that it ran like it was hesitating,after i switched it from reserve to "on" it seemed to run fine,i thought it was the plug but my neighbor said it was fine,it just took awhile for the gas to get flowing properly

 

when i put my kit on i turned off the gas, and then stared up the quad. Ya it died kinda quick, but once i figured out what it was it ran fine. Twice after that my dad or i turned off the gas again, and forgot to turn it back on. Twice it died and it still runs fine now, i didnt even foul my plug. I hope this helps in some way! Good luck
