Default Opinion on Magnum 330 4X4

Hi fellow forum members: I am thinking of buying a new Polaris Magnum 330 4X4 with a snowplow. I want to ride with my 6 year old son who has a little 50cc quad but I also want to plow our 120 foot long double width driveway. In addition, I don't want to spend my last penny but also want a new machine. What do you think? Is this the right machine or is there something else that I should be looking at. Also, should I get the 48 inch plow or the 60 inch? I'm here in Massachusetts so we get a good amount of snow in the winter. Thanks for your help. I appreciate any comments that anyone is willing to make.

Hello.Welcome to the forums.Your 330 mag should be fine for what you are wanting to do.Just always use LOW range when pushing or pulling anything. The mag 330 has a bunch of torque in low.You wont have any problems plowing snow.As for the plow,Id say the 48" should work fine.No sense overtaxing the atv.It might take a little bit longer, but thats offset by the manuervurability(sp?)youll gain. Also it may allow you to blade sidewalks where the 60"wont fit.The only thing to consider is when the blade is angled,as when your plowing, make sure that both ends of the plow are further out than the front tires.Ive never plowed snow with an atv but have gotten wheel rub against the walls in a truck. In this case the 60 would be better or you can just straighten the blade out again. If you lose traction dont ram the plow as this is hard on the whole atv.Get yourself a set of chains.Enjoy your stay here.Scott.

I agree with fredbear92 the magnum would be about perfect for what you want to do.

I plow my driveway with a home made 54" plow on my 335 SP. I think the plow should be a little wider than the bike so you are not driving in snow with the blade angled. I would have bought a 330 Magnum if I didn't get such a good deal on the SP. I paid top dollar but it only had 580 miles on it and it had all the acc. I would have had to buy anyways.

I Plow sonw up here in northren ontario, I dive a 400 sportsman.
The magnum should be just fine. I have puched an amazing amount of snow around, I have a 60" - 5 foot homemade blade on it works great. but chains on the tire make a world of diference, your back end dosen't slide all over the palce. also don't put you blade on to much of an angle or you will not get anyware. the faster you go the better the job, then the snow don't pile up a hugh snowbank that keepes creeping in on you. I use low range, but my dad prefers high range to the bar. unless you are puching a mound of snow.

Thanks for all of your help guys. I like the size of the machine. It's not too big for me yet it appears to have enough power to push snow around. I appreciate your comments.

i had the 325 magnum 4x4 and im not totally into speed and racing and all that good stuff but this machine lacks power. yea it can probably do just fine but compared to other fourwheelers in this category this one is slow and wayyy too heavy. you will want a faster more powerful machine before too long i guarantee it. even if you just want to play with it you will want something more powerful. some oether choices would be a good used rancher or a 400 kodiak shoot unless you are going to get a great deal although this fourwheeler is great on trails i never once got hung up it usually started really well i never had a mechanical problem, i personally just fee,l like i mentioned before, it is way tooo under powered for the weight, its a real plush ride, very comfortable just way under powered
