Mounting the IMS 4.6 gallon tank
#1
Hi,
I'm ready to install the IMS 4.6 gallon tank in my V-Force. It came with two 6" foam strips and the instructions don't mention where they go. I was guessing underneath the tank where it kind of sits on the frame rails.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the help.
I finished last night. The only problem, if you want to call it that, was lining up the mounting tabs and bushings to the frame welded nuts. I removed the IMS metal guides and reused the stock metal guides and put them inside the IMS rubber bushings. The stock guides are a one-piece metal item with a flat washer and metal tube as one piece (kind of looks like a little tophat). I pried them out of the stock rubber bushings (came out easy) and pulled out the IMS guides with a pair of needle nose pliers (came out easy). I figured the metal washer part would provide more area for the bolt head to exert force on.
I also removed the coolant lines from the carb. I went and bought 1/4 plastic connector along with a couple of vacuum caps for the carb fittings. I zip-tied the connected coolant lines so they wouldn't touch the front exhaust header.

I did the same thing you did Mark, but not only did I reuse the stock guides but I also reused the stock rubber grommets as well....they snapped right in. The stock grommets are thicker towards the bottom and are formed much better than the ones IMS provide.
