Default Sand Paddles on a Sportsman....

Since I'm 10 minutes from Pismo Dunes, I have been running my 400 Sportsman there quite a bit. Anybody have any experience running a Sand Paddle tire on a Sportsman? I'll have to get new wheels for it as I see the largest they make for the paddle tire is a 10" diameter.

Now my big question is, if I leave the 25x8x12 on the front, should I worry about having the smaller circumference tires in back. I wouldn't need 4 wheel drive much so AWD would be "off" but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of everything that I need to be thinking of. Any thoughts?

Was also wondering the same while checking out the 700efi at a dealer in the oregon dunes. Another person that was there said that he thought it would pop the front gear box, but I don't know.

Can you Imagine a 700efi with paddles on all four, wide open tearing up a nice bowl. 750 pounds of pure insanity.

Well depending on the sportsman they went to 12 inch rims in 2000 or so because they moved the rear brakes to the right rear wheel they enlarged the wheels to fit the brake caliper in the wheel.

I just did a search for 12 inch paddle tire and I found several were available in 12-15 in. diameter. So I guess you could do it but what would break?

SM, Where did you find 12" Sand Paddles? I haven't seen any in the magazines or online places. I figured I would get a couple ITP C3's in 10" diameter and put ITP's new 22" paddle on them so my circumference is as close to 25" as I could get.

Thanks SM!
BTW...that top link didn't work for me for some reason but the second link provided some decent info. It appears from that, that ITP is making a 12" tire so I'll look around some more. I found that GBC is making a Paddle Master tire sized 25x10x12 which is perfect for what I would need so I'm investigating the price on those with 2, C3 wheels to match what I have now. We'll see what comes of this.

no problem let me know if you end up doing it. Also try to find out more about the possible damage that may result from the paddles. Id hate to see the paddles cost $700-900.

I found that one csmayfield55...that's a bazaar looking setup. They are on closeout only and have nothing in the 12" wheel size. Why don't you think your Sportsman has enough to turn a regular paddle tire? I see some itty bitty bikes on the dunes spinning these things and of course the power/weight ratio might be different, do you think it's really that big of a problem? I'm trying to look at this from all angles.

Thanks!
