Strange Noise
#1
I am new to this forum, and I just picked up my Scrambler 500 last week. Last night was my 5th time riding it, and I got partially hung up on a log in some mud. So I applied the brakes, switched into AWD, and then gave it some gas. The machine was just throwing mud all over the place and vibrated alot as it tried to get traction. Since this didnt work ( I only tried for like 5 sec), I just put it in reverse, backed up a foot, and then the machine just crawled over the log with no problem. But after that I noticed a strange rattling from the maching. When I got home (at 1am) I did a quick inspection and it seemed that the rattling was coming somewhere near or in the recoil case. I didnt get a chance to inspect it entirely yet, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what may of happend from the machine vibrating like that. The noise is more evident with little throttle, and either stops or gets covered up at higher throttle. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. I hope there is nothing wrong with the machine, since it is only 7 days old!!! Thanks...Neil

Well the noise could be your starter bendix it is inside the cover on the recoil side mine made that noise too I took it apart and regreased the gears in there and it quieted down but I think it is a normal noise I do not think it will harm anything but Get it checked if you are too conserned.
I could be wrong in but I hope this helps
Have a good one
