Question about Z-400 fan
#1
My friend has a z-400 and when we drag race in the field his fan turns on about 10 times to mine turning on about 1 time.I just wanted to know why it is doing this.

Part has to do with the heat transfer to your coolant from the engine and heat transfer from the coolant to the outside air (via the radiator)
Heat Transfer to the coolant is due to combustion temperatures and transfer time. The transfer will be higher if you're
1. Running with higher load (aka more throttle opening)
2. Running at a lower RPM (gives more time to transfer the heat)
3. Have a higher % of water in your coolant mixture
4. Running normally or lean (running rich will actually cool down your combustion temperatures)
For the heat transfer from the radiator to the air, it will be higher (aka less fan time)
1. Running at higher vehicle speeds (more air through radiator)
2. Radiator is clean (more air through radiator)
3. Have a higher % of water in your coolant mixture
