Am I the only Polaris owner that goes riding, not racing. I love a mud hole or creek to cross but, all the talk about who can out run who.... I guess I just too old for all that. Surely that are others in here that could not care less about speed. ? Is 49 to old to be on a sportsman? I guess if you guys fly by an old yellow sportsman...... it's just me

LOL!

I am 18.... About 3 months ago i got anther quad a banshee i found really cheap well anyway, when i pulled up in my truck my old man (he is 50) came out of the house and seen me taking it out for a test run after he seen it run, he said that thing brings back my old motorcycle days let me take it for a spin, i said sure watch out that powerband is sneekie... Before i could turn around to watch him he was hitting 5th gear at full throttle and getting the front end up i was ... Now he is thinking about buying a sportsman 700EFI...

So i would say 49 is not too old for the SP...

Sorry but your not the only old fart in this forumI am 45 and ride a 500 Scrambler and a 400 2stroke Sportsman.I enjoy the kids in here and seeing them learn and grow out of the "how fast" stuff and get into the "how to do stuff".This is one sport that the ages are very equal.

Hey,

Naw, you're not the only old fart on here, I'm like you, I'd just as soon ride the trails as do the racing thing. I might do a drag race here or there, but let me in the woods, I'm happier there.

02 Scrambler 400x 4x4, Blue
04 Trail Blazer 250, Red
03 Trail Blazer 400, Yellow, soon to be Black
03 Trail Blazer 250, was Blue, now wearing the Freedem Scheme
03 Trail Blazer 250, Yellow
95 Explorer 400 4x4, Red
92 Trail Boss 250, Gray/Blue

I'm not an old fart yet(20), but im with yall on the speed thing. I had much rather ride the trails, exspecially crawling rocks, than go real fast. I hope to be an old fart one day and still ride though

I'm 41 and I have a 335 SP and only use it for trail riding, taking my kids hunting and fishing and plowing my driveway. I know what you mean there are a lot of people into performance. When I had Harleys the topic of how poor the performance they had for the displacement used to come up. A friend used to say that he hasn't seen a Harley yet that wouldn't do the speed limit. I guess he was right it all depends what you want to do.

I'm 46 but when I ride my scrammy 500 I feel like 16. I used to race AMA district 6 motocross from 14 to 16 and never lost the thrill for speed and adventure. Remember that life is a limited time offer, so go out and have a blast no matter what age you are! Old fart, maybe, but a FAST FART! Just have the advil and joint cream handy.

Have Ya'll ever heard the old sayin "to be old(er) and smart ye must first be young and dumb". Not sayin that those who go fast are dumb but I learnt a long long time ago going slow don't hurt near as much, and then you can do so much more when you get there.

In my neck of the woods, just about every old fart farmer has a quad - including my 60yr old Dad (whom, BTW, refused to use one because they were just a toy - until I let him "borrow" one of mine - that came "home" 1 1/2 years later when I gave him a '96 SP500)

The quads owned/operated by the "old farts" are the ones that don't spend a lot of time in the shop too.

Prior to moving I repeatedly rode with a fella and his father. At the time his father was 72, 2 heart attacks and 3 open heart bypass sergeries but if you ask him why he would simply reply with "I ain't dead yet" or something similiar. Now at age 75 his health has really went south, so he doesn't go off on day trips by himself anymore but he will deffinatley creep around the mountains in SE KY all day long with you.
