Default KFX400 Next Upgrade Modification Advice

I'm looking to do my next upgrade, which will probably include some engine work, but don't want to take it to far yet. I've heard everything from change the the Cams only, change the cams and add springs, change cams, add springs and a high compression gasket and lately someone mentioned to replace the carb first.

I've kind of narrowed it down to replacing the cams (not sure what type), adding titanium springs, a high compression gasket and a 11:1 piston. Could you guys give me your opinion and maybe some advice on what products you use or recommend or if there's anything else I should consider?

I will be modifying my KFX400 soon, also.
Like you, i want to choose the best "upgrade path" that i can with cost in mind.

Isn't the KFX400 already at 11.3:1 compression?

Mark, from my understanding the 400 is already 11:1, just add the drz-kick base gasket, retails around 8 bucks and adds one point of compression. hot cams intake cam for xc racing or add both intake and exhaust for mx racing. Fcr 40 carb. I rode a bike described like yours except for the carb, ( had the intake cam) and man that thing ripped hard.

Sometimes I wish I was more mechanically inclined.
I spoke to a mechanic too today at a new local atv mod shop, and the person I spoke to mentioned I should do the cams, gasket and porting, which is something I didn't think of. Said that would be a good upgrade. I kind of want to do the carb at the same time but that would add around another 500-bucks. I'm at around 600-700 installed with these upgrades so I think I may ease up and save a little for that carb you mentioned
