i found a mint fully origional lt250r 1992
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42592
for 2000 bucks right near my house with in a 1hr or 2.
the bike was bought in 92 driven for 6 mounths, and then parked for 12 years, never run, by looking at the bike it looks mint, what kind of problems whould this thing have, as it not being started in so long?

i bought a 79 kdx400 one time with the same story, only it was sitting way longer. i changed the plug, oil, cleaned the air filter and bang!! fired right up with a couple of kicks. break it in slowly, and grease the bearings too. that's all i could think of. that quad is close to me too, but i already have a 92 that i'm building for mx. plus that's a great deal. that thing is mint!!

One thing to look out for would be dried up gaskets and seals that could start leaking the instant you fire it up. I would put in a new base gasket and all other seals that can be accessed easliy. It's cheap insurance that will save you down the road. Also pull the cylinder and check for rust in the sleeve...it might need a very slight honing before being run to prevent premature wear on the rings etc. Other than that just look it over good and fire her up. I saw that bike on ebay and if it wasn't so damn far from me, I would have tried to get it too. That is a good find.

That is the same story mine has. Got it sept 02. Garage kept for 9 years. Show room condition. I just did basic maintanance to get it in running shape. Not a problem since...Of cource it doesn't look stock anymore. Mine was $2800. I'd jump on it.
