I was just wondering why there is not a class for quads that are 600+ cc (or even 500+ cc), I know there is the open class where anyone can run what they want (i.e. raptors vs. z400 vs. YFZ vs. etc, etc..) but how come not a class for only the big bikes. I know this would basically be the DS, Raptor, and Vforce (maybe Predator) and some hybrids that people put together....and maybe honda if they ever come out with the 650ex (wishful thinking there). Is it all based on demand at the racing level as far as what people are bringing to the track, or what people want to watch? I guess I was thinking of it like watching heavyweight boxers in a match......they are not as fast or nimble as the lite or middle weights, but they are exciting to watch. I was just curious about this because if my Raptor dont sell in the next month I will start modding it to be somewhat of a MX bike, and as far as I know the only class avaible for the Raptor is open class. Anyone have any ideas or input......

 

If you read the rules the open class is 266- unlimited 2-st and 451-unlimited 4-st. but most local races will let you run anything in the open class. the way that the rule is written it is just for the large bores only like what you are wanting.

 

Not sure if you are understanding what I am asking, is there not a class to keep out the smaller machines, like the yfz450, 450R, and other built up z400s and 400exs. Maybe Im missunderstanding you but it sounded like you were stating what I had put in my 1st post concering how the open class is set up now....sorry for any confusion[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I got ya! I went to one track that had a 500 series, all quads had to be 500+cc.

 

Open Class MX is 449cc (or 450cc) and up for four strokes, 310cc and up two stroke. Production and Pro-Production are limited to 450cc (or 449cc) and less for four stroke, 310cc and less two stroke. It's been a long week, my numbers might not be exact.

 

There should not be any Z's or 450's in the open class. If a track is letting a quad of 450 or smaller in the class it is there choice. The class should be run like what you are talking about. The quads that you listed are not supposed to be in the open class, but again some tracks will let them in.

 

Why maybe the pred?, it would be my choice in those big bores for mx

 

I put in "maybe" depending on the class breakdown, if the class was 600cc or above then this would exclude the predator....unless someone had a worked up one that was built over 600cc.
