how to shim needle on 650 ?

Default how to shim needle on 650 ?

I have done my search in here for shimming but havent found out exactely how to go about shimming the stock needles on my 02 650. Can i do it at the time i have the bowl off to rejet? What do i do to shim it.

Default how to shim needle on 650 ?

The needles are under the plastic caps on left side of carbs. You hafta take the air cleaner and middle plstic off.

You need to get washers that will cause the needles to be spaced out from the slide about .040 to .070 (depending on mods).

I some people have used a #3 washer, but you may have to drill the hole out bigger. Some people use a nylon washer. I am not exactly sure what to get, but I know you can see what works easily when you get the needles out.

I got a dynojet ket and use the adjustable needles. That is why I don't exactly know what to do. You could take measurements and order the right washers from mcmaster.com
