seems like i'm confused now....none of the 04's at my local shop had gas gages at all!now mabey cause im in canada and the gas is so expensive polaris dosn't want us to worry about how much we got left...just fill the damn thing!!!!![ JK...LOL]

The float type gauges are pretty accurate when your stopped and on level ground... I got one for $20 at my dealer for my 03 scrambler...

 

It is probably different for trail riders, and for "big" quad riders, but I don't have one on my Pred either. I just shake the quad and look inside. I figure that is what reserve is for, so when you run out, you better haul *** for home. I suppose a gauge would be more handy, on the Pred it was probably more of a weight factor.

 

That was the difference between the '04 and the '04.5. The '04.5 has the digital fuel guage with the low fuel alert flash.

 

ealry 04 Sportsman had no gas gage.
04.5 have a fuel send built into the fuel tank (automotive style), so the only way to tell is to turn on the key to see the fuel gauge.
I don't believe Polaris offers an accessory fuel gauge for sportsmans w/out fuel gauges either, due to the tank configuration.

Now 04 ATP's and Magnum models have the cork style fuel gauge in the cap to read fuel level.
