Default The fat kid nobody wants to play with.

My best friend just bought a 2000 Bomb DS650. He is coming out to the mountains with a buch of his co-workers to ride. I have a 250ES. Is there any reason for me to go? I know I am getting dusted a lot since they all have racing quads. The slowest of them all is a predator. I know I can't keep up with them, but will I have any advantages over them, climbing, trails etc.????

Yes, There's a reason to go, Too have funThey might have a bigger and faster quad, but that doesn't mean you can't join them. Go and have fun too. And if your trail riding, you will have a slight advantage by having a smaller size quad, lead and pick trails they have to ride a little slower.JMO

One advantage is riding wheelies. That big red can ride wheelies with the best of them. You should be able to mud with the best of 2x4's as well.

Or maybe you could get the predator to play tug-of-war with you. That would be fun to watch.

Yeah the tug of war thing would be fun I think. I am going, but more of a supporting role this time. My Big Red is bomb proof (no pun intended). But I know the speed will be an issue and fixing thier racing bikes they know nothing about. I have a feeling, once the day is over, I will be riding my trike home and they will be hauling thiers. I will have lots of pics when its over. Thanks for the responses.

well, We went to the mountains, and rode some trails. I was gettin laughed at by some dude who didn't even have a quad out there until I rode a wheelie across the parking lot and his girlfriend thought I was, "cool". I kept up with them fine on the trails and rode as hard as the rest of them. After it was done, they figured the big red isn't as wimpy as it used to be. I kicked some butt. The guy with the predator left early.

WyoBullRydr, Hey man thats a pretty clean Big Red, mine's in pretty good shape but urs is almost like new. Man i can't stand the huge baloon tires on it right now so i'm puttin some 20-11-9 turf tamers on it . Oh yeah, man when i go ridin w/ my friends i totally kick their as$es when we go trail ridin cuz i can turn on a dime with that thing and they always get stuck as to where i never have gotten stuck in any mud i've been through.

Thanks for the comments on my trike. It looks better now that the seat has been recovered. I have a regular rack bag on it too, not the backpack. I will post some more pics of it tomorrow. I have a question, maybe dumb. I heard about an '85 red with high and low range. Is that a switch or something? or is that just the difference between first and fifth? What I mean is, is there a high 5th and a low 5th gear??

The 84 and older big red had a high and low range effectively giving it 10 gears. It was also only a 200. The 85 and up 250es only had 5 gears.
