Default scrambler 500/400 power

how does the power of the 500 compare to the old 400 two stroke ?im may be buying a new 500 i have never rode THE 500 4 stroke, i had a buddy that had the old 400 and i just loved that thing it was alote faster than i had expected for a bike thak heavy. i guess what i really want to know is if the 500 is as fast and powerful as the 400.thanks

The 500 is a totally differant machine than the 400.500 has a lot more torque and bottom end.400 has the quick revs and awsome power when you hit the pipe. Both ride and handle the same .The 400 will do better with mods.

ya the 2-stroke if you want the speed...low end is better on the 500..i have a 500 4x4 and I love it though...sportiest 4x4, and its pretty fast..I guess its just your preference.

In stock form, they are pretty equal. The 500 defiantely has the advantage in the torque department. But when you start dumping money into mods, the 400 will blow away the 500

I owned a 97 400 sport two stroke and now own a 03 Scrambler 500 4x4. Hands down I'd go with the 500.
