Default a couple 300ex questions

I just bought a '97 300ex. it is my first quad, and i don't know a lot about them. i appreciate any help with my questions.

where's the choke and how does it work?

i've found replacement plastic online, but are there any different body styles that change the look altogether?

what cheap things can i do to gain more power?

where can i find a twist-throttle and how hard is it to install?

thanx again.

1. the choke is right under the left side when you sitting on the atv. if you look underneath the plastic there is an yellow lever that is your choke (kinda of a Pain to get at)
2 i don't know much about that but i know that maier plastics might have something.
3> remove airbox lid, buy a air filter and for $250 you can get an exhaust system.
4 i would recomend rocky mountain atv because they're pretty good on prices.

Have fun on your new quad!

The choke lever is on the carberator.Look on the left hand side for the yellow lever. You can't really change the look you can race cut it and take off the headlight and handlebar cover that makes it look better. The things I did to my 300 was FMF Powercore4 with powerbomb header exhaust,Dyno Jet kit,k&N air filter and took off the airbox lid.Now I can beat stock 400ex's.

I would buy a pipe (HMF)sounds great..A slip on is all you need unless you have motor mods then the full system will do better...K&N power kit it has everything you'll need with the pipe....If you take you lid off make sure you watch were your riding water and mud will bet in the box and could cause problems...01300exracer has been sniffing to many exhaust fumes.... Unless you have motor mods like a cam or port and polish ETC.. your not going to beat a 400ex...I know Ive tried...
