Default 400ex carb swap on Mojave

OK...the 400ex carb and throttle are on their way. What do I need to know about the install?? I here that it's best to have a tube between the carb and the clamp-on pod filter?? How long does the tube need to be?? What (material) are you guys using to make the tube??

Thanks!!

The ex carb is a bolt in- the boot is big enough, my experiences with PVC tubing involved 2 45* bends and some straight length- this was with the stock carb, and my experiences where less than enchanting- going wide open, I believe when running into the main circuit, it would die out as if suffocated, I'd been told that I needed a bigger main jet but I was already running a drilled out unit- 1/16". Mojaveaddict runs a tube such as this with success, possibly the ex carb is mor accomodating to this setup. With an open pod filter a 65 or 70 main jet oughta do for ya. I'm currently mocking up an enclosure to cunction as an airbix to quiet the beast down a little...

You stated at one time that you set the neddle jet to the #4 groove? I see that Dynojet recommends setting it to the #3 groove.....any reason for the change??

How do you like the response of the 400ex carb (all the way through the powerband) with your current settings??

I'm fired-up to make this modification!!!

No- Dynojet recommends the #3 grove as a matter of fact, but in my brief testing, I found that I could run on the #4 groove. Yes- I love it all around. It cleans up the small 'gap' on the bottom and runs smoother thruought. The best investment I've made for the my 'jave.
