Cylinder question
#1
Well along with some help from Majorecho I pulled the cylinder last night. Everything looks good except for a score in wall that runs from the bottom to about 1" from the top. You can just feel it with your nail and it doesn't go all the way to the top where the most compression is made. I have no problem with crank case pressure and the bike ran good all last year. What i am getting at is should I just get it honed and put the new piston in like majorecho and I think or does it sound bad enough that it needs to be re surfaced and re coated?

Can you hone nicosil coating? If so, is there a special hone that should be used?
Just wondering...
If the piston is not worn? why replace it unless you are raising the compression? Ring set is probably all you need if not.

Thanks for the info Dsaholic by the way, long time no hear from. Good to see you're still involved and riding.
I'm beginning to think that I am the last DS owner with a stock engine (depression sets in ) Maybe its time to play

I just have been over on the snowmobile forum for the winter. Majorecho and I are thinking about coming down for DS days this year to see all you guys again. If he can get the turbo set up it shoold be a fun time watching him tear up the hill.

Really hope you guys can make it!
I'm trying to organize some of the Sand Mt. regulars to go to St. A's in June 2005. I know it is a way off but, tough to plan when the riding season is so short and we just don't have that many vacations!
