which is better the lakota, z250 or a 300ex. I will be riding mostly trails. also what is the top speed of these quads.

 

i really like my 300ex. never drove a lakota or a z-250 but, the lakota and the 300ex are a little more sport oriented than the z-250.

 

The Lakota is pretty heavy. If I had to choose between these 3 bikes I'd choose the Honda.

 

Kota is most powerful, and fastest of the 3. but both the ex and Z are lighter. they all handle good for traisl, and all 3 make good trail quads. the Z is the cheapest, the ex is the most expensive, and the kota is right there in the middle (price wise)!
a good idea would be to go and test ride all 3.......thats a good way to get what you really want!

 

300ex is the fastest out of the group stock, plus it is lighter then the lakota so it will be easier to throw around. The Lakota is a good trail quad, its just heavier and not as quick as the 300ex.

The Lakota is a fair trail quad (Owned an 01), however it is heavy. With a pipe and a sprocket change, it will give you a noticeable gain. The Z250 (Own an 04) is a great all around quad, but is down on power compared to the other 2 300cc quads, but when it comes to Trail riding, the shaft drive gives the Z an advantage in ground clearance over the others. Depending on your size and weight, it might be one to take a serious look at. Another thing to consider is weather or not you want a Full Manual shift quad or a centrifugal Clutch quad. If you are not comfortable with a Manual Shift ATV, then the Lakota and the Z250 or maybe even the 250EX are going to be your only choices. With that said, out of the 3 you listed, the 300EX is the better performer. Motor, Suspension, and an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts are already out there for modding it.

Have you thaught about looking into a Mojave? its like a lakota but manual clutch, much lighter and a bit faster too!

 

Go with the 300ex they are good quads. And they are a honda.
