Default Just got a 01 ds, ? on upgrades.......

I just bought a 01 DS 650 from the original owner, very clean and ridden very little. I plan on installing skid plates, the Pro Armor look pretty good. The tires are all original, I plan on putting 22" Holeshots on the rear, not sure about fronts yet. Will the bigger rears affect power at all ???? I would hope not as the motor seems to have plenty of power. I also plan on a Pro Circuit T-4 slip on, I've read it's a good weight savings as well as adding a couple of HP. If anyone has advise on any of these items I would appreciate it, thanks, Scott.

The '01 still has some steering/caster problems. If you go to 22" rear tires without going to 23" fronts you will make matters worse by decreasing caster even more. Adjusting Toe, and setting the suspension are also very important. Aftermarket upper A-arms are a really good idea. Steering Stabilizer will help, but not as much as fixing the problem by getting your caster back up where it belongs with the right tire combination or upper A-arms.

as was said go w/ taller front tire, it helps alot, the stock tires suck front and rear ( I herd Klaws are excelnt to) . 15t front sprocket. also put a couple of hose clamps around the air boot between the air box and carb. rejet to172.5- 175, drop needle clip to lowest poss.(richest) and go kick some azz. later or sooner you might wana look into some clutch springs and a CDI. also this has been debated to death but leave the air box lid on. IMO
