I've thought about putting one on my DS to see if would help keep me from getting stuck so much. I think the best thing for me is to stop trying to follow the 4x4 quads though. I like the look of the baja skid plate that they have in Dennis Kirk but their to high on their stuff.

I've got a custom made 1/4" aluminum skid on my Warrior. I wouldn't be caught riding around my place without it. I'd be replacing sprockets and rotors every week!!! not to mention chains .. LOL
Can you say ROCKS!!!
as for helping you not to get stuck so much, I've found mine a hinderance in snow .. it makes a nice tap-down compression for the snow under the quad and ends up to high centre the rear in deep stuff ..

I've got the Pro-Armor swingarm skid plate on my Baja and I really like it. It's the thickest, most heavy-duty skid plate I've ever seen. It works extremely well and it looks great!

the armadillo is also 1/4". the part that sucks is taking the axle loose. and moveing it to the right to get that one bolt out thats behind the sprocket. I was thinking if you are running in sand only. you could just take it off and have more clearance. I know I plow sand alot with that thing.

I put on my skid without messing with the axle. I had to cut one (maybe two?) of the bolts that held on the original plastic unit, but the bolts for the PRM were short enough I could get them in behind the sprocket.
Run 22" paddles and you don't need the extra clearance at the dunes.
