hi guys i wanted to buy new tires for my bike a 98 big bear 4x4 s.e with high low transmission, i was wondering what the biggest tire i could fit underneath there is a 26" or 27" , bearclaws or itp mudlites i ride rough rocky logging roads and need a long lasting tire, so can i go with a 27'tire without clearance problems or rubbing i was thinking maybe 27x10x12 mudlites all around or 26x12x12 and 26x9x12 bearclaws any input appreciated thanx.

IF you have a new big bear i think you can fit 26's and or a low pressure 27. Measure your fender clearance off your stock tires and you should be able to determine what you can fit.

Any of the 27" tires will work as long as you get them as a kit with the offset 12" wheels that come with all kits for straight axle quads.
I have seen a few of the 27s though where it required minor cutting of the rear mudflaps....right about where the meet the heel guards.
If you plan on running your stock wheels, you need to contact the distributor you are getting your tires from. Most 26s rub the frame rails in the front with stock wheels when turning.

I beleive the 27's will fit but you have to remember that you will lose low end power by putting on large tires. I put 25" mudlites on my 03 Big Bear they perform great in all conditions I have put them through.

Hey Traildogg , I have a 2006 4X4 big bear that I put 27" MUD BUGS on the stock wheels !!! Front wheels are 6.5" in width and have 27X10X12 -- back wheels are 7" wide with27X12X12 and they are doing great on trails & mud, and this set-up doesn't even rub the over-fenders and this works no matter where shocks are ajusted. I'm running 4 lbs. air pressure in each tire. This also helped make my BIG BEAR alittle longer legged ! later earlthepearl
