Prairie 300 cam chain trouble
#1
Found out why my neighbors 2000 Prairie will not start.... it appears that the cam chain is either broke or has come off the sprocket. The cam is not rotating when you turn the engine over and appears to also be holding the exhaust valve open. The machine only has 125 miles on it so I can't believe that the chain is just stretched beyond the self adjuster limit. Maybe a timing gear broke?
How big of a job is it to change the chain on this machine? Has anyone else had this type of problem on a low mileage 300? By the way, the chain broke or came off while the engine warming up at idle speed. The machine had been sitting about 3 months.
Thanks in advance for any help!
