Eton weight question for Traxterman?
#1
Traxterman can you get to the bottom of this wieght issue of the new 90s.My brochure from last year rates the 90 at 209lbs. Their website listed it at 192 lbs(which by the way won't allow you to look at the spec sheets anymore).Unless there have been some really signifigant changes I can't see why the 05s would wiegh 249 lbs as a couple of people have stated.Either the old wieghts were incorrect or there is no way in hell I would buy an 05 if my 04 is 40lbs lighter!Reverse or no reverse 40 lbs is a lot of wieght.

The weight will increase with the new reverse set up. There are more gears, shift forks, bearings, engine case to house all of the mess. These style transmissions are definatley not up to high performance mod load requirements.

I just purchased the 05 Viper 90 with reverse two days ago. The owners manual says it does weigh 249 lbs. The Viper 90 without reverse also weighs 249 lbs. The Viper 50 weighs 238 lbs.
Traxterman-
Where can I find the secret behind the adjustable cdi box for the Viper 90r.

If I understand it correctly the reverse is electronic. There are no extra gears and moving parts to add wieght. They have been doing this on Ski-doo's for years now.The engine actually adjusts the timing and the engine slows until it actually restarts running backwards.Obviously this is only possible with a two stroke engine.Perhaps the brochure I have for 04 is incorrect as I'm still having trouble understanding where all the new wieght came from.I haven't been able to get a hold of my dealer yet and the other local dealer isn't getting any new bikes until April.

Traxterman-
The dealer showed me where the box was. Does 0 mean the rev limiter is off or does 7? The kids have put about four hours on the quad and today I found some oil spots in my trailer. It's leaking some oil. But I'm no mechanic. I'll be taking it in on wednesday. I will keep you posted.

i bought 2 2006 e-ton 90r about a month ago and so far they have been pretty tough little quads. but with one i have had some little problems, such as 1) brakes. hard to get them set good enough to hold with the lock on. 2) finding parts can be hard and info on them as well. 3) the one has a bogging down action when trying to go, i beleave it my be the chock cable getting stuck. still working on it. but all in all they are pretty well built and fast for kids. i wiegh around 190 at 6ft. and i ride them with no prob. i bought them from ( finishlinepowersports dot com ) to check out there site for info and or you can call 1-888-917-1300 ask for jack. they are pretty nice and helpful. plus if you order today they bring it to your front door. they are located in livonia, mi, up near detroit.
