Welcome to the forums!
Sure you can do it yourself.. I used a 4 1/2 angle grinder to cut a friends plastic with a thin cutting wheel.. Just map out your plans with some thin masking tape make sure its even on both sides and take your time...

OH trailrider won that one BBS..... Oh uh, yeah, never mind.....yeah do the thin cutting wheel trick and if you cant draw some even lines side to side have a buddy do it. And wear your safety glasses because plastic will be flyin' all over.

Hmmm, who put the rum in the B-Day cake! Belated Happy B-day!
If you want the non-power tool route. Draw out a rough outline w/ a grease pencil. Grab a tin snips, prefer the offset aviation style. Snip on the outside of the line. Follow that with a file to smooth the contours, then a sanding block for final finish. Give me 15 min and I can change the look of any quad...you should see what I can do with Bonzai trees. Ah grasshopper!
