My first GNCC and I got to meet Mike Penland

Well I let GE4x4 talk me into racing although he didnt have to talk hard...
I would have to say that was by far the most fun I ever had on my quad..Even though I went into a gully and had to be fished out by 4 completely very cool spectators..Then I lost one of my handle bar grips, had to run 1 lap with no grip.untill I got some duck tape..The ride down to NC from NH was brutle. But worth it.And too boot I got my picture takin with Mike..he is everything people say he is and more.Top notch nice guy very approachable..Even though he said I talk funny....I thought he was the one with accent...I will have some pictures posted after I get some sleep check back later tonight...

Mentalstate,
Congrads on running your first GNCC. I ran my first one on Jan 31st in TX and had a lot of fun also. I also got to meet Mike Penland (and Scott Kilby) at my first race....and you are correct, they are very approachable, friendly folks.
Say, did you happen to meet a guy from WV on a red P700 named Jack. He ran in my race and in your race too...I thought he was also a very friendly/helpful guy as was most of the racers I met at the GNCC.
Happy trails...

Mike Penland is one of ATV racings most friendly and professional people! Kawasaki is sooooo getting their money's worth with all the time he takes to be an ATV ambassador. Great guy!

Mikey
Unfortunatly Mike was only one I met...We were on a tight deadline...And I had been up for over 24hrs straight driving down to NC and racing then headed straight back home....Next time I am spending the weekend...So I get the full effect...

well...the race saturday morning was great!!!
found a gnarly little spot where they run down a bank thru a mudhole and straight up the other side....first two laps went fine.....but by the third lap it had got so rutted that the sport quads would get stuck about 2/3 up the hill if they didnt have alot of speed going in......all it would take was one guy messin up and mayhem would ensue...25-30 quads at a time trying to go round the stuck guy on a single track trail....needless to say i got a lil muddy from trying to help out and then gettin roosted by 450's and the like....on a happy note.....i met Mike Penland and we talked for like 30 minutes.....i had spoke to him on the phone before.....but it was nice to actually meet one of my heroes.....he is a genuinely nice guy!!!!!
photos of the race on my website by the end of the week!!!
PS: glad to be of help!!!
