ABOUT TO ORDER A SET OF WEB CAMS. HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS.
#1
I AM ABOUT TO ORDER A SET OF 109/110 CAMS. I WILL BE GETTING THE TI VALVE SPRINGS FROM ALBA. THEY SAY THEY A WEB CAMS VALVE SPRINGS SO THEY SHOULD BE FINE. MY FIRST QUESTION IS SHOULD MY SHIMS BE THE SAME WITH THE NEW CAMS AND SPRINGS AND WILL I HAVE TO REMEASURE AND ORDER NEW SHIMS? CAN I USE THE SAME SHIMS OR IS THERE DIFFERENT ONES FOR USE WITH THE WEBS? CAN I EXPECT TO REJET AFTER THE CAMS? THIRD I AM GOING TO ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE SPRINGS WITHOUT PULLING THE HEAD. I AM GOING TO BLOW AIR INTO THE CYLINDER TO HOLD UP THE VALVES. ANY TIPS?

Yes it will require the same type of shims. Yes you will prolly have to change them. I would be very surprised if you got lucky enough to not have to. You might get lucky and jst have to swap them around. Prolly not though. Can't help ya with the springs. Maybe someone else can though.

i went to mr hp website and do not see anything on cams. dose he cary the same web and ron woods cams? all i want out of a set of cams is to be able to pull up to 8-9000 rpm where now it drops off a ittle over 6000

Don't use air to hold the valves closed, use rope. Feed rope through the spark plug hole until you can't get any more in there and then rotate the crank until it won't budge. The rope will hold the valves against the seat so you can get the springs off. There is a tool for compressing the springs to remove the keepers, get it. If you try to "pry" the springs, you can easily slip and bend a valve stem. Nylon rope won't leave any fibers in your cylinder after you finish.

with the 109/110 cams can i use the dual valve spring kit? how much farther up do these cams make power. i am looking for it to pull hard up to 8000 rpm

The 109/110 cams are good cams, giving good over rev and more top end power. But they were designed for a much lighter F650 bike - they give up some bottom end and mid range - something I feel the DS needs more of instead of less for most riders. I would recommend the atv designed Horsepower Research cams.
