Is there a simple way to test to see if the fan works? I think mine might be shot.

Pull the two wires that connect to the water temp sensor and touch them together. The fan will come on if the fan is good. Make sure you have the key on

The 2 90degree terminals on the thermostat by your right knee when you are sitting on the bike. Put a jumper wire between then and turn your key on. If its bad it won't come on.

Thanks guys that did the trick...I used a paper clip it worked.

HOWEVER, I got bumped & the clip was long enough to short out off the exhaust. Anyone know where the fuse might be? I know there is two under the seat, is there any other fuses elsewhere?

My luck I tell ya...

I fixed it. The fuse (if your sitting on the quad) to the left is a 15 AMP fuse. I replaced it and the fan still works... thanks again guys.

Hey Eaglecollector

I give you mad respect for all the work you did and documented on the shifter forks on the DS. Man I hope mine doesn't go. I don't know if I'd be tolerable to do that type of work. How long did it take you?

Thanks....
I wanted to be sure that I took notes and many pics so that if anyone else wanted to give it a go they could. It's actually not that bad. It took me about 3 hrs to get the motor out. And then about 2 to get the motor torn down. Thats how it sat for the week until the parts arrived. Then about 1/2 hr of making sure I had the right stuff ready to go into the spots. Then it took a little longer to reasemble the motor. Only cause I checked and rechecked and then rechecked again as I went. And took pics. Plus ya gotta torque stuff and locktite everything. But I made up some of that time on putting the motor back in and the reast of the stuff. All together I think I was out of comish for 2 weekends. I also had to replace 2 gears and I got some other misc. stuff I wanted. Cost me about 480.00 If all you need to do is the shift forks with all new gaskets ya should be around 225 or so.
