in my sig you will see my project... its a 1990 honda 70 that i got when i was 5 years old... well i have gotten a little bord lately, and decided to try to put 2 chainsaw engines on it, strech it out, and put some jr dragster tires on it... when i was 10 i started racing jr dragsters and i have some old tires laying around, and i work at a family owned body shop and have all the resorces. i saw a classifed add in the paper for 7 cainsaws for 100 dollars. i have everything! the only thing i need to know is will it work? has anyone ever done it before or know someone who has? also i was wandering if there was a kit to put a tranny on it... might sound dumb but i thought it would be a fun little machine to ride!

well, if you attach both engines to the same shaft...sinchronized correctly, they will draw power off each other...effectivly working the same way as a 2 cylinder engine. as long as there both running right. dont know what you could use as a tranny....omm well, i can tell you from experience that "peerless" transmissions out of lawnmowers dont work well...maybe try to find a centrifugal clutch and put it at the end of your shaft...probly not gonna be too powerful though..

stevo,
Forget the chainsaw engines. If you want something small and powerful to go in there and still remain light weight, you couldn't go wrong with a 80cc two stroke dirt bike engine.
Go with a CR80 to keep it all Honda.

You might be able to make it work but it sounds very difficult. I'd go with the CR 80 motor like Knows said.
Then again if your heart is set on it, go for it. My friend and I almost put a 550 honda 4 cylinder bike engine on a go-cart. I welded angle-iron to the frame to support the added weight but we never finished it. We always wondered how it would have ran. It would have been awesome. Probably something like 50+ hp on a 100lb frame.
I'm kinda glad that we didn't finish it.....we would probably have died on it.

staypuft? That's not staypuft. That's the Michelin tire guy! Dumb@$$!!
stevo,
You can sometimes find complete CR80 bikes from the early '90s under a grand. They use the same engine up to 2001.
Get the whole bike and you will have the carb and wiring harness to aid in the installation.
