HMF or Mr HP Cap
#1
From what I've read on these forums, it sounds like the Mr. HP End Cap and the HMF slip on produce similar power gains. My real question is in regards to the amount of sound each produces. I think HMF has a quiet insert..do you lose all you power gains with this insert and how much louder than stock are each of the mods..

They are both loud ,performance has to breath. The quite core helps take the bark out of the HMF, but it need to be rejet for max power because it make the bike go rich.
Both are equal HP gains. End cap, best bang for the buck. HMF, stainless steel and aluminum.

If you're buying a high performance pipe and then bottling it up, just keep your stock pipe and money, unless you just have to run the quiet pipe on occasion. Or, you can buy the endcap and swap it out with the stock endcap in "have to" situations in just a few minutes. Or buy the HMF and buy the quiet core and swap it out when necessary.

if noise is the issue then diffently the end cap. we deal with that here in oregon 96 is the limit, we all push past that but it is a gamble at best. when packed good the graydon isn't as loud as a lot but as that starts to go it get real loud. the thing with noise you want to make sure your not the loudest, because they always find that guy, running lower rpms helps keep the noise down. so i'd get sound checked with the stock end cap then switch to the mr hp end cap. since the passed law of no booze in the oregon dunes the noise enforcement has went away, they look for those 5000-10000 dollar fines, takes a lot of loud pipes to make that much money on the one. so all you that want to drink in the dunes please do, i like my loud pipe actually i prefer you don't drink i have kids that i ride with and would want them hurt due to drunk riding.

The yoshomura is a good pipe and has different inserts for noise control.......the only negative thing is the price......
I ran a end cap for a year befor i decided to get a shiney pipe. MR HP's end cap looks to be the best way to go, with a little rejetting of course.
