Unhappy with pink spring
#1
ok here is my current setup.. KFX 700, HMF true dual pipes, Uni Air filter, 148 front 150 rear jetting, Cut the the air damn out from inside the airbox you know the one directly inside where the air comes in from the snorkle.. its jetted right cuz the plugs are a nice light tan color on the procalin.. i installed today the dalton clutch cover and epi pink spring. no i believe if i remember right somone mentioned id be over reving well i took it across the field for a quick test ride and the thing sounded like it was reving like crazy but to me it seemed it lost its hard pull and mabey a little top speed.. well in frustration i reinstalled the stock primary spring back in and all power returned.. im hearing this rumor there is going to be a new primaryt spring thats suposed to help out a modded V but in the mean time is there a spring that compliments the mods i already have and make it pull even harder. im looking for shoulder dislocating pull when i snap the throttle. please smart guys help me out..

I'm running the muzzy exhaust with a twin air filter, 145jets front and rear and the epi with the pink spring. And I noticed a big difference better then stock on engagement with the pink spring.

but basicly your running with a bike thats only had pipes and a new air filter added. im running a bike thats had pipes, air filter, and major airbox mods added, im running 148 front 150 rear jets im at sea level so im about 3-4 jet sizes from facotry if that can give you any clue on how much more breathing capabilitys thing beast has since its factory. i know somone told me the pink spring gains fade considerably on a v thats heavly modded im asking can anyone help me find a spring that will pull like crazy from bottem to top with minimal amount of stall as i like to trail ride too. also whats the web adress tat i can buy this polaris yellow is it the one on epi site the primaryt for the polaris. i dont mind buying a bunch of different springs as its only about a 20 minute job to change em out and at 20 bucks they are fairly cheap im going to my dealer to pick up some shims this week as well anyone have a cost on them...

Something doesn't make sense here. The pink spring is a heavier spring than stock. You shouldn't lose anything compared to the stock spring. The pink should pull a little harder no matter what mods you have. I think you should do some simple bathroom scale tests with your springs to make sure the pink you have is right. The only other spring with very low stall is the Dalton Blue, but if the pink doesn't do anything for you the Dalton blue won't either. The shims should help, but again something doesn't sound right. I've never heard of anyone losing anything by going to the pink no matter what mods they have. Did you change the weights?

I have the Dalton clutch ... and weights. I have tried the EPI pink and the Dalton Blue. Both seem about the same to me .....
both higher engaugment than the stock spring... and much lower than the EPI red. I don like the red at all...... can't get it off the trailor without spinning the tires.
I notice the most difference with the pink at bottom of the mid range. It will lift the front at a higher ground speed than with the stock spring.
PS .. the Dalton clutch plate does not change any thing at trail riding speed..... it is meant to give a little more rpm on the top. It is the combination of spring and weights that effects shift out speed.... and that is what you are going to feel on the bottom and middle.

Yo Rkhard,
I think the rest of the guy's are right. There must be something wrong with the spring, or maybe the pink isn't working right with the dalton cover and weights. Put your stock clutch back on with the pink and see what it does. That will tell you if it is the pink spring or not. I have the pink with three shims under it and i love it. It has a perfect stall for trail riding and everything else. It raised the shiftout too. My top speed is about 72 mph. That is fast enough for a 60 year old fart like me.lol

DONT USE MORE THAN THREE SHIMS AS IT CAN CAUSE THE SPRING TO BOTTOM OUT AND BIND. i TRIED THE POLARIS YELLOW SPRING AND DID'NT LIKE IT AT ALL. THE STALL WAS WAY TO MUCH FOR TRAIL RIDING. WOULD PROBABLY BE OKAY IN THE DUNES THOUGH. i STILL HAVE THE A-ARM GUARDS AND RADIATOR GUARD IF YOU WANT THEM. CHECK YOUR PERSONAL REPLY PAGE.
