last year at the southwick nationals I racer the open C and 16-24 age class, my fastest lap was 1.5sec slower then the leading pro, i didin't beleave it and still don't but they showed me the times! I also took first for the year in the neatv-mx open C, and never finished out of 5th all year.

The DS is actually a good TT and MX racer with a couple of exceptions. With just a few mods, you are guaranteed the holeshot. The weight comes in handy in those "bump and grind" situations. It is a very forgiving jumper. The bad: (A) the extra weight means you'll be on the brakes before anyone to get stopped in time for a tight corner - the solution: serious weight reductions on all possible parts. (B) It sits pretty high and dives onto the front shock pretty hard in corners - the solution: cut out the frame brace above the chain, lower it with good aftermarket suspension, and the weight reduction helps here too.
I have won state championships and series championships on a DS650. And I'm 36 years old (ie. I run out of energy in half the time of my 18 year old counterparts!) and I have a greater respect for pain/suffering than they do! So a lot of credit goes to the machine I'm running
