can a ds be made more MX ready?
#1
Hi
I'm a new guy and got a Ds last year. I was jsut wondering if the DS can be made more MX ready. I'm not going to be any hard core race but it just seems a little big on the turns and jumps at the local MX track. What are some things that I could do to make it better at the track as well as at the dunes? Would I be better off selling my DS and getting a YFX 450 or a Predator?
thanks for all the info

besides what in my sig I lowered the seat height 1in and some little tweaking and its a MX monster! if you by any quad short of a gas gas or c-dale moto your going to spend just as much to get it mx ready.

I think you can get the 300 2 stroke for 8200$ and the 450 4 stroke for 8900$ also this year they released a 250 2 stroke.

I'm knida leaning towards keepin my DS now that I know with some $$$ they can do ok at the track. How does yours do at the dunes (if u ever take it there) and how much did u spend after the price of the DS for all the stuff on ur sig?
thanks

never been to the dunes and probley would not ride good at slow speed.
quad cost 4300$
a arms+ swing arm 1500$
pep ZEP shocks 1500$
Ti axle 1000$ rad wheel spacers 120$ rear only
bead locks front and rear 550$ + rubber 200$
rev box came with quad (250)?
pipe was used 125$ (440$)new
that just the big stuff, the axle was over kill but I would have kept bending the stock ones.
you can have track worthy suspension for under 1400$ only the shocks are nessery.

I dont have enough $$$ to do it all at once so what would you sugest to start with? Like I said I'm gong to be riding at duens sometimes. Right now I'm bone stock (accept paddles for the dunes). Right now I have $400 that I can spend. Also, on A arms and swing arms, I see different sizes like +2 and stuff??? I have no clue what that means?? Whats a good size/length/ect ect
thanks

for racing do not go any wider, most track have a 50in wide limit. also a arms are not that important on the ds I would get them later on just for the weight savings.
for racing get a pipe or Mr. HP end cap, some mx tires, rev box, and shocks. that is the important stuff.
