Default New pipe - Do I rejet?

I just bought a new pipe/muffler for my 99 scrambler 500 4x4. I wasn't looking for performance, just a little throatier sound. I didn't buy a clutch kit. Do I still need to rejet? Everything is stock except for the pipe/muffler. If I do rejet, what size of jet?

Youll Need to Ride it and see how it responds. First, let it Warm up, then make a few full throttle runs (about 10 Seconds long) then kill the engine and read your plug. Pay attention to the color, if its whitish, then your running lean, if its Tan, Your in good shape. Polaris Tends to Jet a tad rich from the factory anyway, so you may be O.k. Also Pay attention to whether you hear it Backfiring or not as you let off the gas, the popping sound is a sure sign of lean condition. Im not sure whats in yours as far as jetting goes, but will probably get away with going up one size on your main if its lean, if its an extremely free flowing pipe, you may need to raise your needle a notch also.. Good Luck!

I ran a megamax on mine and I had no need for a new jet. She ran great. But now its time for my pro circuit t-4 and I think that it will deffinatly need a new jet.

You really shouldnt have to rejet a 4stroke with just a pipe. But to be on the safe side I would do a plug check . And if you are going to a muffler with a spark arrester you can run a few plates as you can to get the sound you want .

First off, what pipe/muffler did you get? With MOST of them you will want to bump up the main jet to a 160 and adjust the air/fuel screw

Usually with just a slip on muffler, you dont. If you do I would only go up 1/2 a size and then try it and see how you like it. Maybe even just adjusting the clip on the needle also
