well i have been thinking about buyin a 400ex off ebay cause you can get some in pretty decent shape for like $2000, but i really don't like the idea of spending that much on something i've never even seen, and the exchange of funds, i've been lookin around here and my search hasn't brought much in my price range, closest i have found is one in ohio, which hes askin $2400 for it, but it'd probably be about a 3 hour drive to look at it. So if i do decide to go the ebay way, what tips could u guys give me to help me from gettin a pile? I know if the deal is too good to be true, 99% on ebay it is

I think there are plenty of good deals on ebay that are not scams. You just have to do your research. Check out the sellers feedback, check to see what kind of items the seller has sold in the past and what comments buyers have left. Also look at the price, I doubt anyone is going to auction a quad with a $0.99 starting bid and no reserve, its to risky to the seller that the quad will go for less then its worth. Email the seller, ask for more pictures, etc. If the seller really wants to sell the item they should be over backwards for you.

I have made alot of purchases on ebay. nothing more than 2 or 3 hunderd. no problems. if I were to purchase a big ticket item. I would only buy local or within reasonable driving distants. go look at the item before bidding. work out a cod payment with seller before bidding. trust no one with your money.

I would make sure to get a phone # and address, talk to um and asked question that anyone with a DS should know. If it seems fishy, it most likely is. NEVER NEVER buy anything overseas, Never use Western Union or purchase without 1st getting a copy of the title or ownership papers and a signed sales agreement.
