Help with jetting?
#1
OK, I have a 2001 DS and i put a cp12:5:1 piston in, TM45 carb w/accel pump activated, alba pipe w/sparky,and ported intake, with the direct mount K&N filter.
When i ordered the carb i told them my mods and altitude and they put the jets in. It is a 145main jet, and a 37.5 pilot jet. To me it is running rich because my prm grab bar is black on the piped side. I pulled a plug and the plug was white. Is this jetting correct or what should i do to improve it. I am running 105 octane race fuel, if that makes any difference. I just dont undrstand it because they said w/ the correct jets u can gain 1-2 more ponies. So i dont really know if mine is correct. My altitude is about 3600ft above sea level. If anybody knows what i should do it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot Lance

Have you done a comp check to see what psi your running?
@ 3600ft I would run the air fuel 1 and 1/2 turns out, I even run that at sea level. Try the needle in the middle position. You may be running too high octane. Are you running vp red. Have you tried any oxygenated fuel? Try Ultimate-4 mixed 50/50 with your 105 and go up to a 150 to be safe, and you might feel some more power. good luck. I may be wrong but your pilot sound lean.

What does the end of the pipe look like? Gray or black or in between the two?
Sounds like your "right there" with your description of the plug, but hard to say even if I was "there".
