Dyno or not to dyno?
#2
The dyno makes a great tool for jetting.....you might not be happy with just HP reading....on a standard shift ATV, they dyno in 4 or 5 gear whichever is direct. On a auto the transmission is always trying to shift up so you get into an overdrive situtition and the HP numbers are lower.
A little secret to get more HP....the heavier the clutch weights the more hp. This is on a dyno, in the real world, that's not the best setup.

7-S Cycle Supply in Leroy, NY 585-768-2330 their about 20 min. from my house.
I would really like to dial in the jetting on it but at $100/hr it might get too costly. I might have to visit and get some more details. The guy I talked to said the reason it's $100/hr is the air flow sensors are about $400 and only last about 7 or 8 runs, which are not needed for hp runs.
Anyone else have experience with paying someone to dyno their bike?

I agree... the dyno is your best tool for accessing the performance value of any mod... I'm jelous that you can do it... the closest quad / cart dyno to me is 3 states away... IMO, you should get a base line run ( no mods ), then do a run with any mod you do, that you are installing as a "performance" mod... It is my understanding, that unless the Dyno has "trick" software, to give you a curve with your CVT, you'll get a flat line of horse power... as SHOTGUN said about the weights, the dyno is also IMO, your best CVT spring & weight tuning tool as well... if you notice, that several of the dyno charts floating around, show a horsepower curve, on a cvt quad, they either pull the readings off of the crank, or use creative software to place a curve... I'm skeptical of these software programs, because a manufacturer with a vested interest in improving that curve, may find a way of manipulating it...
If my wife would just hurry up & win that lottery, I'd buy one & stick it on a trailer, to take to all the ATV events...LOL...
