Tempest and other N.B. area riders,
Since you say we are practically neighbours I suggest we get together some day soon for a neighbourly competition. I see from some of your posts that you drive a 450ES (nice quad). That would pair up nicely with a 425 Expedition!
Obviously my own quads are home in penticton but I have use of a 425 here in N.B. any day I ask for it.
You choose the location and time if this interests you, as I am unfamiliar with the area. Perhaps some hill climbing, mud and of course flat roads would be in order.
Each person should bring a friend as we would report back here to the forum with the results. (this last suggestion is made to promote honesty).
I hope this appeals to you, I think it would be very interesting!
I look forward to any ideas you may have as well.
Comments anyone? Maybe someone else in the area could join us?
Max

No contest. You win. I have very little experieince having owned a quad for only one year. My riding skills would no doubt be less than yours.

Tempest, Very good response, instead of saying your bike is the best there is, you stated that you obviously didnt feel your riding ability would allow a fair competetition. Regardless of the Outcome, Kudos to your response!

Still no reason you guys can't get together for some fun. I would meet up with you if I lived up that way....just for the ride!

Tempest, What I am curious about is how the 450 and the 425 compare in various areas. You've said your son rides also. Perhaps he or you would ride the 425 and the other ride the 450. I don't care about a comparison of rider ability. Does this interest you?

max, I am indeed here. However I have no desire to participate in this "competition". The net result will be that you still prefer a Polaris and I prefer a Honda. And that is fine. We have nothing to prove here. Before I purchased my bikes I researched what was available and decided that the Honda had the best combination of features that I was looking for. Note, I did not say that "Polaris sucks" or anything of the sort. Simply stated I prefer a Honda.

Now I do feel bad that you want this competiton so badly to do a comparison. So I went back through the magazines that I have purchased and lo and behold the September 1999 issue of 4-WHEEL ATVACTION has a head to head shootout between the the Expedition and the Foreman. End result, they liked them both. Each had strengths and weaknesses. Each was better than the other in some area or another.

Summarizing from the article the Polaris rode better, shifted better, had a better reverse feature, and a better recoil. The Honda had better ergonomics, was torquier, handled better, was lighter, had better brakes, was better going down steep hills, and was more waterproof. The magazine stated that they were equal in hill climbing and mud running.

The magazine concluded that the two bikes were very close but "Considering its superior construction quality and reliable performance, we're going to give this round to the 2000 Honda Foreman 450S - by a very narrow margin".

So there you have it. The "pros" have indicated that they are both good bikes and very comparable. No need to have a competition and the inevitable "I saw, he saw, he did, I did" that would be posted to this forum and thereby invite the inflammatory comments from those individuals who are intent on brand bashing.

I'd pick a Honda because the engines run good along time.

I'd pick a Polaris because of the good looks and the true 4-wheel drive.
