I would recommend going and trying to test drive all 3 and see which one feels the most comfortable for your riding style since they are all pretty close to each other in performance.

Yeah they will all do what you want them to do so it all comes down to comfort. I have heard that the YFZ isnt that comfortable on the trails though. hope it helps

thanks all, i think im gonna go for the raptor. iv heard some of the bad reputation it has, but personally i think its a great quad and the transmission faults got rectified in the 2002 model, so nothin to worry about there!

are there any other quads that people would recommend or do u think the raptor is just what i need?

im told that the YFZ is much easier to insure over here (im from england), so if none of the companies will insure the raptor, ill have to go for that one.

The raptor trannies are fine. There are bound to be a few defects in a bike or two. You are only the third person I've ever heard of that has had problems with an 02 or later raptor. The other two had 01 bikes they had transplanted 02 gears in to and built 686 engines.

I was thinking about trading my raptor in for a yfz. Now I see that the pistons are blowing the engines all to heII in stock bikes. I think I'll wait a year or so before I decide to lay down 7k.

ive been reading the yamaha threads and its giving me second thoughts.... i really dont want a quad thats gonna screw up every 5 minutes. id love a raptor, if someone can say all the bad things people say are unjustified, otherwise, im gonna have to go fro the 450
