Default 100 miles with Dynatek CDI

Just finished testing my new CDI. First impressions very positive.I did some plug chops ,and decided I was a little lean.Upped the main jets to 145f,148r.Now good color on plugs. My stock needles are shimmed .020"and air screws are at 3 1/2 turns.Still a little lean on bottom end so I ordered 145 pilot jets.Stock my bike would run 68 mph on speedo,Modified with no cdi,I could still run 68 mph ,alot quicker and kept hitting the rev limit. With the CDI ,alot more bottom end,and now runs 72 mph on speedo. My friend has a 700 sportsman with a hot seat kit.I can beat. him everywhere, bottom, mid, and top end ! ! Over all the biggest gain you will feel is mid range pull.Arm stretching,Like riding a snowmobile type feeling!! Best mod so far ,get one.(one last note, runs alot cooler, fan never came on,and could check plugs without gloves )

Are these larger pilot jets easily swappable and available?

1kawiluver,

I have ordered 2 different sets of pilot jets and both were the wrong ones at which point my dealer says he cant get them. Can you PLEASE share the part # for the #45 pilot jet as I desperately need one...

The tech that ordered the pilot jets called today and told me"unavailable until the end of april" I asked him what type they were he said type 21.Is this what you have tried? My air screws are at 3 1/2 out , This is pretty close once warmed up. I'm just afraid of them falling out. Most atv or sled settings are at 3/4 to1 1/2.

You can go past 4 turns on the air screws. Rode mine at 4.5 for awhile.

I've ridden two '02 P650's, owned/sold an '03 P650 and now own an '04 P700. I have never seen any one of these machines hit 66mph(stock), consistently, on a perfectly flat(No Headwind) road verified in both directions. My P700 did hit 66mph a few times(BONE STOCK) but it took quite a bit of distance to do it. In order for your machine to hit 68mph, the motor is at near 8000rpm. Both my '03 P650 and '04 P700 wouldnt hit 7600rpm bone stock.

Now, with airbox changes and a GOOD pipe, my P700 did hit 68mph. My tach read 7950rpm. The pipe was the difference maker. Are you using a full exhaust system?

My P700 is no longer stock. It is well tuned with pipe, cams, and clutching. I NOW can just barely bounce the OEM rev limiter at 71MPH and the tach reads 8450RPM. You will CLEARLY hear the motor stutter. Of course, this is using the OEM CDI. I have been waiting for the Dyna for 3 weeks now.

I will be at Tug Hill on the 24th...Barnes Corner. Let me know if you would like to meet up. I'd like to see your machine. That CDI looks promising.
